Hubby's boat

We went out today in the freezing cold wind to look at Hubby's old boat (new to him though!) and he took some photo's of the fittings that are mounted under the boat, and that if they fail, will allow the water in.
He intends making sure that the fittings are sound, and that he will get no problems with them.
He is thinking now of taking the whole of next summer working on the boat, instead of getting it into the water before he is sure it is safe, or at least as safe as it can be.

Floor Tiles Come Of Age
It is only a few years ago that the floor tiles in most homes were of a linoleum or other plastic type material. But the trend now seems to be for tiles that are more natural looking. The stone type of tile with a rough-ish textured finish is well established as a fashion, and I suppose this has come about because of the techniques that are now available to create these tiles. They are strong enough to be put onto a floor that has some give, or movement, yet will not crack like older options could do. That is not to say that they are indestructible, but they are certainly strong enough to stand up to the normal to heavy loads that will be encountered in a domestic environment.

Getting Good Deals
We all want good deals, but it is really hard to get them. The plain fact is, the retailers pay about the same for items from the middleman, or, maybe in the case of the larger retailers such as circuit city, they buy direct from the manufacturer, so are able to make more profit, while at the same time selling at what are cheaper prices to the end consumer. It really can be a win-win situation.

How Long Do I Keep My Van?
My van seems to be getting old, or maybe just a little bit creaky. It runs OK, but I will avoid getting another General Motors product because of all the annoying little warnings from the computer, telling me to service this, or check that. I drive through a puddle of water, and then get warnings about traction control for the next few days.
You would think that intelligent people would have tested out these systems before selling them.

Creamy Sleep!
Probably the best time to apply any kind of cream or similar medication is at night, so it can do it's job while a person is sleeping. This is also great if the cream or whatever is visible, as it doesn't matter what we look like while sleeping. For most of us, a simple moisturizer is sufficient to improve our skin, so it is good to check out some night cream reviews to see what is available, and how they compare.

Hubby's vehicle gets parked - for good?
I don't like being everyone's taxi, but at the same time, if it can keep Hubby working, so he has no excuse to quit, then that is fine with me. His Jeep inspection sticker ran out at the end of December, and he parked it 'until the warmer weather' so right now, I have to be careful not to hit anything, or get smashed by other people!

Acne tends to be thought of as a teenage issue, but in reality, it can affect a person for the whole of their life. It is a matter of education as far as not taking any actions that will result in life-long scars. By taking in some acne treatment reviews online, it is possible to make some informed choices as far as treatments are concerned. After all, the gangster look might not be fashionable once we get older!

Getting it off
I am still working on losing some weight. I know that I kind of missed the boat for Christmas, but now I have to do it for the summer. I have, say, 3 or 4 months, that might be enough, if I can actually commit to doing something about weight-loss in general. I think the way might be to just focus on one specific aspect, that way my resolution will be easier to keep.

Weather Warms Up - About Time!
Well, I noticed when I woke up today that the weather seems to have changed for the better. It is just slightly above freezing, and not much wind, so the ice has a chance to melt quite nicely. Those with open pick-up trucks will be happy too, as this will give them a chance to get emptied out ready for the next snow filling!

Losing Fat, Not Water
There are quite a few ways that the human body can lose weight, and we tend to forget this. We naturally think of fat, probably because the word itself is used to describe an overweight condition. Enhancing Life!
When I first saw the term 'male enhancement', I was a little bit like a giggly schoolgirl. I knew what it meant, but it seemed a bit unusual. Yet, if I see 'breast enhancement', I have no reaction whatsoever, just acceptance. Seems like there is a double standard in there somewhere. However, once I calm down, I realize that for some people, size, and the youthology that is associated with it, might matter.

Hubby's Birthday
Hubby gets older yet again, and wrinkled with it, like a prune. Well, not quite that wrinkled, but his face has more character than it had a while ago, let's say.
Anyway, he took a day off work, we went out for a coffee, took a trip to the Yacht Club to check on his boat, then we went to the mall, and he bought me a gift!
Now, I know it is supposed to work the other way, but he wants a boating book, and we have to order it in.

Fitness In Winter
We have been reasonably lucky with the weather just lately, with no real ice or snow staying around for more than a day or so at a time. So, I have managed to get out and about a bit, with no real discomfort, not that I deliberately walk a lot, or jog or anything, but I do walk to the mall from the van, and around the mall, of course. Now, as soon as the ice comes, then it makes things way too dangerous to manage any real worthwhile natural exercising, and that is where fitness equipment comes in. You don't have to spend a lot, but can get going with smaller items, to see if you sustain the exercising. Then once you know that you will, then it is time to really get enthusiastic about it!

Cancun - Still a Favorite.
It is around this time of the winter that I start to feel restless, and want to get away, even if just for a long weekend. It would make a great change, for instance, not to have to drive anywhere for a few days, and not to give a thought as to whether there is enough of this or that in the fridge. Now, cancun mexico is a great place to take a quick trip to. Just a few hours or less from anywhere in the continental USA, and even Canada. But the part that attracts me is that you pay for the package, and apart from a few tips, there is no need to spend a single dime more.

New Year Blows In With Snow
The New Year has arrived with a vengeance. It was OK for the first few hours, but then on New Years Day we started to get it. SNOW. And lots of it, at least a couple of feet. And now the forecast is for more snow, changing to rain, then the temperatures dropping to below freezing. Should be messy. Glad to be at home looking out on it, rather than at work and out in it.

American Standard Rules The World
I was amused a while back to see that while traveling in Russia, or maybe somewhere else in the former Soviet Union, a travel correspondent noticed that the hotel he was staying in, that was set up specifically for tourists, and was way too expensive for the local people to afford, had an American Standard sink in the hotel room.
I guess that is a true sign of success for a company, when their product will be chosen despite political barriers.

Security Cameras Catch Criminals
I have noticed recently that when watching reality crime programs on TV, such as The First 48 on A & E channel, I see that often the crucial lead that ends up in the crime being solved is gotten from wireless security systems including security cameras.
The end result from this will be even less selection of security equipped premises by the bad guys, as they get the message loud and clear that cameras and other security aids are best avoided by them.
This has already happened in regard to auto thefts, as the older cars that have no alarm system will be targeted by joy-riders more often than newer models.
