At the Chow
The three of us chowed down at the Chow Family Resto yesterday. It was an overdue celebration for Arvin. I promised to take him out there because he did a good job at school. This is like few weeks ago now. There was always something in the way of it, but yesterday was a quite day here and so we decided to eat out at Chow. Did we chow good? oh yes we did!

He felt embarrassed when I took the camera with me as I wanted him to stand by the side of the building, so it's so blurry:)

Bathroom Vanities From Decor Planet
We have an older house, just a little bungalow, and it was built in the '60's, so it needs work. We are looking at new windows before next winter, and also the bathroom needs a lot of work. Actually I am trying to persuade Hubby to do a complete tear-out and rebuild, and to get someone professional to do it, to get rid of the dripping faucets. I would like to see something more interesting in the way of bathroom vanities as well as other fittings and fixtures. They have some specials at Decor Plant, so it might be worth getting the buying done real soon.

Bored...
It's just Monday, first day of work. No, we did not get the holiday. We should, but my company doesn't recognized it as holiday. My son was happy though. They have an extra day off, it's Easter Monday. I know it's only Monday but I really wish it's Friday already. So bored at work today. So sleepy the whole time. And the time was just dragging. Can't wait to get out of there!

At the mall


We went to the mall yesterday to pick up some stuff. We were there very late that we had the whole mall to ourselves, basically. There was not a lot of people there, maybe because of the unexpected weather we had( photo here ). Well, we had a great time taking our photos there.

Aroma Of Morning Coffee Is Great
Coffee aroma drifting past my nose is truly one of life's delights. I just think that the smell, especially in the morning, is just great. Actually it might be a morning thing because that is when I generally smell the coffee. I was counting up the money we spend on take-out coffee, and it is, to say the least, too much. Around this time of the year here in Nova Scotia, the weather is moving between above freezing, to down below freezing all the time. If the upper layers of air are circling around so that warm air comes up from the States, then we are warm, if the air is moving down from the Arctic Circle, then we are cold. Been like that for thousands of years. So no amount of complaining will change it. So, I have to tell Hubby to shut up and go out there and shovel!

Survivor tonight!
I love the show Survivor. Well, not really that much:) the reason why I got hooked into watching it is because of the poll going at work and I paid 10 bucks to be in it. We cast a vote on who we think will be the ultimate Survivor. Funny thing is, I don't even remember who I got, but I know I am still there because nobody said anything to me yet. hehehehe..I miss a couple of shows, and that threw me away. Anyways, I better remember that it's gonna be tonight instead of the regular schedule. Hopefully I won't fall sleep watching it again:)

So nice...
Compare to the other day's weather, today is nicer. I can't believed how windy it was a couple of days ago. It was like -1 deg Celsius but with the wind, it really felt like it was -50!...Well, I wasn't really worried about my situation here because I have a car and I can just run to the building fast if I have to go out. I was really worried about my family in the city. My mom has to go out, wait for a bus and walk a lot. She phoned that day that her fingers were frozen cold because she stopped at a store from work and have to walk to the apartment without gloves. It's not bad when you are not carrying anything because you can just put your hands in your pocket, but carrying a bag of groceries was a different story. I was surprised she wasn't blown away with that strong wind:(

The Grammar In Blogs
I just noticed something. In the post entry below about the spelling test, it says 'I got a 87%' Now, I know that this is a spelling test, not a grammar test, but it occurred to me looking at it that it should be 'I got 87%' or 'I achieved a score of 87%' or 'I scored 87%'. Maybe that is why a lot of us, even those who have English as a first language, make errors in what we write. After all, this comes from a so-called professional website. Makes you think........

Spelling Test

I often used the spelling checker whenever I blog(being lazy). And some blogs doesn't have that option, so it's up to me to check it manually. But because our brain is designed to read per word and not per letter, I could miss my spelling very easily. Just for fun, I took this test to see how I am with my spellings. The test is pretty easy, but the words are the common mispelled words I had 1 wrong, and I scored, 87%!! not too bad, i guess

The Week is Half Done For Me
Two days out of the five work days are now done for me. I changed shifts with a guy who couldn't find childcare for the March Break week, and now I am back with my regular shift, so I am having to do two weeks of night shifts in a row. The good thing is, now he owes me! Knowing my luck, he will leave, or I will, before I can make use of the debt!

Catching Up With Chores
At Last! I have just caught up with the clothes washing. Our washing machine is in the basement, and I have to haul the baskets of clothes down the stairs all the time, then up again once they are clean. Now, if I could just have hubby fix up a laundry chute, I could just throw the dirty clothes down there, and then they would be gone! Trouble is, then I might forget to go down there and put them into the machine. The good thing is, I have trained John to do the laundry most of the time, after all, being retired, he has the time.

Hubbies And Their Cars!
My husband is really annoying. He has fiddled around with an old car battery in the basement, and spilled some battery acid onto the concrete floor, leaving a big white powdery stain, and then he warned me not to touch it, as it is acid! He says that he will clean it up later, but with him, later never comes. He could buy a new battery for about 60 or 70 bucks, but he prefers to fool around with old stuffs. If he was me, he would whine a lot about it!

Can't complain too much

I know I have been complaining lately about our winter weather here. When we went to the next province on the weekend, I realized that we are still lucky over here for not having a lot snow on the ground. This photo was taken there and the pile of snow they have is unreal. The weather might be cold here, but we don't have that much snow on the ground. On other parts of Canada, because of not having enough space anymore to dump snow, some people are tired and are having arguments because of this. I guess, I shouldn't complain with what we have here:)

DVR Recordings are Great

I have a DVR(Digital Video Recorder) that is part of my cable package for the TV. I subscribed to this because I work nightshift sometimes and doesn't wanna miss any shows I like to watch. I have found friends and connected to them on a regular basis. It's my way of socializing online. When you work most of the time and have the same routine everyday(wake up, work, home, eat),connecting with my blogger friends would always reminds me that there is another world out there. Another world besides what I see here. I guess, it's my window to another world.

It let me share my ideas and consider others.

It also help me express myself freely. After all, it's an online journal.

Being married to an old guy, I am repeating some of the important points about a stroke.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE
Thank God for the sense to remember the "3" steps, STR . Read and Learn!
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.
Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:



S * Ask the individual to SMILE.
T * Ask the person to TALK to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (i.e . It is sunny out today)
R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

NOTE : Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke. If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call 911 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

Got back safe..
Well, we just came back from going away today. The big snow didn't come until we were almost home, that was a relief. Going to an indoor amusement park was a great way to spend the day today. We were afraid that my son will be bored going there without someone to play with so we agreed to take his friend with us and it was a good idea. They went on all the rides and had a great time. So that was a great time to end the March break....I will post some photos tomorrow, kinda tired now:)

My Hubby Is Really Lazy!
Why is it that men are so lazy? My Hubby says it is because God made women stronger and with more stamina so they could withstand childbirth, but men don't have to do that, so his job is good right now, blogging, and watching TV, as well as fiddling with cars and stuffs that is not important. The best crew
Well, I have been talking about this show on my other blog. America's Best Dance Crew is a hit at my house these days. My son really love the Jabbawockeez, so do I. Most of them are from Asia, mostly Filipinos, I think. But what I like about them is, they are very intricate with their moves, and consistently deliver one of a kind routine.

As I was watching some of their routine again on YouTube, I came across this video of another fan of the Jabbawockeez! He is the cutest little guy ever!!

Catching Up With Work at Home
I am now able to catch up with some work at home. Not just the usual, like clothes washing, as Hubby does a lot of that, but with the stuff he doesn't do, or even see, for that matter. Funny how guys can walk past something every day, and not notice if it is out of place. I managed to do some leaf raking today, as it was almost above freezing, with not much wind, and the Sun has some heat coming with it these days.

My weekend is about to be over....
Did not do a lot this weekend except sleep! I can't believed that the weekend is about to be over again and I have not done a thing at home. I was going to do a lot of cleaning this weekend, but I felt so tired and not in the mood for anything. We did went out for supper last night and then when we came back, our little guppy had more babies! I probably scooped about 20 little ones again. That was enough to get me tired. Well, today I went to the city with my son. I dropped him off to his lolo and lola. He'll be spending the week there. It's march break and there is not much to do here, at least over there, they can walk to the sportsplex and swim and play.

Slowly melting
Thank goodness! the snow is slowly melting away now. Nice to feel the warmth of the sun once again. Spring is definitely around the corner. We are really looking forward to the warmer weather. My family was excited with experiencing the winter but now is sick of it especially they have to walk and ride by bus in the city. There were odd days when it is really cold and windy.

Boating Supplies and Gifts
Boating is about to happen, as summer gets under way. Hard to think of just now, as I have just been out with Hubby to the hospital for a routine blood test, and the car was covered in frost. But summer will be here soon, and time to think of swimming and boating.
John has said he is thinking of building a small sailing dinghy, just to go on lakes, and maybe inshore ocean. So, I looked around, and I found this website that specializes in boat accessories, which might be really useful in the next few months. Not that he will need too much, as his will be a small boat, but at the same time, there are good ideas here. They also have gifts like nautical themed jewelry such as starfish earrings.

The Sun Means Summer and Niagara Maybe?
Yup, the Sun is shining today. It is getting warmer, and now Hubby John is thinking of stuff to do this summer. I want to go and see Niagara Falls, but it is about a thousand miles away, and the heat there in that area is terrible, with lots of humidity and smoggy mist at night, so he says. So, I have to persuade him a little. He wants to see it, but doesn't want the hassle. Like, if we could make a day trip of it, he would be happy with that. Well, Hubby, life just isn't like that, so there!

Over The Hump of The Week!
Well, another week will soon be over. The weather gets warmer, March Break from school is starting, so there will be some fetching and carrying of kids all week, I have no doubt. Well, that is what retired Hubbies are for! My son Arvin pretty well looks after himself these days, apart from longer distance transportation, so as long as I make sure that Hubbies car has gas, we should be OK, might even get the peace of a sleepover happening at a friends house!

First sign of spring
Actually, this is my second sign! I just went out today to pick my son from school and drop him off to the rink. It's such a beautiful day, sunny and warm. The shinny driveway is now turned into a slashey one.But hey, sun's melting the snow fast, so spring is really near. I was just about to go inside the house when I noticed this spring flower sprouting out. First one I've seen this year. So yey! winter is about to be over!!! it's about time!

Remember, by thinking ahead, why would you want to be sitting on a fortune that you cannot access, when in retirement, you could be living off a pension provided by your UK property sale, having already set yourself up in Brazilian property, and also in the meantime saved thousands of pounds by using your property in Brazil for holidays. It is a good plan, and it can work for you.

The computerization of manufacturing processes has led to more than just having a machine making things while being controlled by a computer. Because the product being made has a specification (sizes, materials, etc) that is 'visible' by the computer, then the same 'image' can be used for such things as producing sales drawings, for example. My mom can't get enough of Michael Buble. She fell in love with the voice when she first heard him sing the song, "You'll Never Find Another Love". Every time we go to the mall, she has to go and check the music store. She just bought one of his CDs with all her favorite songs. Storm In a Teacup?
We were supposed to get bad weather, we got some, I drove back from a visits to my family in a windstorm of blowing snow last night with 'whiteouts' as it swirled around. Of course, I should have taken hubby's advice and either left earlier, in daylight, or waited until the heavy traffic died down, like in the early morning hours. But today, the forecast is for rain, wonderful rain. Two days of it coming. Great. No salts to wash off vehicles, no sliding around, no whiteouts. Let's just hope that they are correct.

They are getting big
I have to snap some photos of my tank next time. Our little guppies are now getting big. You can actually see their features now, especially the first batch of little ones. We have three batches so far and they are separated by a separator so bigger fish won't eat them. The two females have bigger belly's now too and will probably have more little guppies in a day or two.

Texas Mental Health Counselors Association has named a faculty member of Capella University (www.capella.edu) as president-elect.

Nothing's Stopping Him
My son is taller than my mom now. It seems like it was just yesterday when my mom was here for a visit and my son was only about her shoulder's height. Now, he is taller than my mom. He is still lola's favorite grandson. They always have a ball everytime they are together. Can't seem to stop laughing because he will always imitate my mom's accent.

I finally was able to clean the house!
Working all week is OK on payday, but it drives me nuts to see the mess in the house building up. Hubby John doesn't care, he just refers to things as being 'in the big pile', or 'in the small pile', or 'in the pile on top of the computer case'. I drive him crazy when I clean up, but I did some of it yesterday, and moved the furniture all around - it drives him crazy, but it is funny to watch him point the TV remote at a blank wall, instead of where I just moved the TV to!

Well, it changed to snow!
Yup, It changed to snow within an hour of my last post on the weather. Now, it will be interesting to see what happens, as they changed the weather forecast from being accurate, to one that said it will stay above freezing all day today, and snow tomorrow. Right now it is minus 1 celcius. I am hoping that it will not snow too much, as it costs about $15 to have the driveway plowed. Hubby says 'we have a Jeep, leave it with snow!'

Here we go again!
Here we go again, I have to drive down to the city where my folks live, to drop them off after a weekend visit, and it is raining heavily after the snow, so we have a driveway full of slush, and the side road we live on looks a bit slushy too, so I am hoping that the main highway will be well salted enough to allow me to keep up a good speed, as if not, the transport trucks seems to whiz by and shower me with slush.

Crappy News after Good News!!
What a crappy weather we had today.It is so windy and snowy and it is just plain crappy. Mom and I have a mom-daughter day today. I took her out to the mall. We went and copy some photos she wanted to send to friends back home. While waiting for them, we went and chow down at the Chinese restaurant in the mall. Lots of people in the mall today, I guess, nobody wants to be outside.

Yey! I got my PR back on this blog. I was kind of hopeless with this blog when I found out it went from PR3 to PR0 few month ago. But what do you know, I gained it again. PR2 is better than nothing at all. So I am thankful again to Google for giving this blog some PR!

I Think I Have Hubby Convinced!
Well, it is early in the day, and I have already been working on my Hubby about getting a new camera. Well, I have some positive movement happening. He suggested we have a look around and see what the best deals are right now, and get some advice from someone who knows about cameras, so that we can be sure that the camera is a good choice. Sweet! Now I can back off and let the idea get established in his mind before actually pushing for it, as I think that once he knows the price, he might put up resistance. In the meantime, he might read all about my strategy here, and pay me some compliments for it!

SLR Camera is the way to go!
I just had another thought - my hubby has always said how he would like us to have a camera with a big long telephoto lens, for getting pictures of stuff from a long distance, so, maybe that can be my plan, I will try to sell the new camera idea by working on him to get a camera to take pictures from a long distance.

I need a new camera!
I need a new camera. My current one is fairly new, 6 megapixels, and takes reasonable pictures, but I have seen the pictures on other blogs, ones that are taken using a SLR single lens reflex camera, and the pictures are WAY better. Apparently, with an SLR, you look through the actual main lens when you look at things through the viewfinder - so you can actually see exactly what you will be taking in the way of a photo. Now, how can I persuade Hubby to buy me one?
