Weekend Is Here!

Great! I can relax for a whole two days...... The weekends when doing shift work are different depending on the shift that you are on the week before, and the week after. I have just come off a backshift, and am going on to an afternoon shift next week, so this is the longest weekend for me out of the 3 different shift combinations. It's great to be home!

Time for a change

Living in North America is really difficult when talking about renovating houses. You always have to relay on the weather. So it's always difficult to get things done until it's spring or summer time. Well, it's almost the end of February so I am hoping that the worst weather is done so we can get things done outside again. First things first, we will need to change outside doors. We have been discussing about it and it's the top of the list on our upgrades. We were browsing for some good doors and door hardware and I think we will go with what we pick. I picked this Satin Bronzed door hardware from Saint-Gaudens. All we have to do is wait for a nicer weather and see if they can install it.

Can't get enough of them

I really do love jewelry. Hubby knows that he can't get wrong with jewelry on whatever occasion. So I know he'll have no problem when an occasion comes and he have to get me something. Just don't forget the occasion, of course!hehehe...Well, I normally reminds him anyways, so no problem them. I was surprised one day when out of the blue he got me this gold chain! He placed it on top of the stove and when I got home and went to the kitchen, that was the first thing I can see. This is what I like about him. He could always surprise me.

More!

We have yet more snow! There was no school Monday, so my son was happy again waking up that there was a lot of snow on the ground. There were a lot of places where their roads were not plowed yet. We are lucky that we live in a road where they prioritize to clean. I didn't have trouble going to work, but a lot of my co-worker had phoned in because they couldn't get out. Oh well, another 3 or 4 weeks and the weather should start warming up!

My hubby told me that in UK, the electricity is so expensive that they switch off the water heaters when not in use. I can understand that - it makes sense that if you have a tank of hot water sitting there, it will lose heat. And you are paying for that heat loss. The way to go on this is simple, there are tankless water heaters on the market that heat the water just before it flows out into the sink or shower tub. The result is, no heat loss, so all expenses heating the water are worthwhile, as well as the space savings, and of course, the endless supply of hot water.

Shades

I am beginning to get a bit tired of cleaning the venetian blinds we have in the living room. I just hate it when it gets so dusty because it is really hard to get in there.I didn't think of roller shades at first, as I don't like the lack of privacy when they are rolled up. But, guess what? There are new materials available that allow light to pass through the blind, but still give sun protection. So I am going to be upgrading before next summer, or maybe before then, judging by the way the winter sun is preventing TV pleasure. And I can get away from all that mess of dust. I have to consider this...

I made it...

Well, it was quite a drive today from the city. I woke up really really and drove my dad back to the apartment and also to pick my son up from staying over their for the weekend. It was not that bad on the way there. It was a little cloudy, temperature about 0 deg Celsius, no wind or anything that would indicate that it will storm in a few hours. As soon as we hit the city limit, I can see snow coming down from the sky reflected on the headlight. Still, no worries, there is no snow yet on the road. We arrived around 6:30 at my folk's house, and that when the wind started picking up and the cloud is getting darker. Not long after when the snow begins picking up too...I still made it home safely though. Thank God! it's after that incident of mine last December when I am a little worried about driving in the snow. I mean, I am extremely careful, but it's the other drivers that I am worried about....
